The west end is one of the best parts of Edmonton for cheap fuel, and the anchor is the big-box retail that surrounds West Edmonton Mall. The Costco gas bar off 170 Street is a reliable low for the whole district, and the dense run of major-brand and independent stations along 170 Street, Stony Plain Road, 87 Avenue and Whitemud Drive west has to price against it. Drivers in Callingwood, Aldergrove and the newer communities out toward the Anthony Henday west leg rarely need to go far to find a pump within a couple of cents of the city low.
The older Jasper Place and Glenwood corridors along Stony Plain Road add a layer of independents that price aggressively, while the stations right around the mall itself lean on convenience traffic and post a little higher. Because the spread across the district is real money — commonly five cents or more between the mall fringe and the discount corners — a quick check of the ranked list below before you fill is worth it. Distances are measured from the district centre, and prices refresh hourly; confirm at the pump.
